Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Review [Capsule Computers]

Added: 19.03.2014 7:15 | 57 views | 0 comments

Dustin Spencer from Capsule Computers writes: "Its crazy to think that it has already been a few years since Donkey Kong last appeared on consoles, as the Wii release of Donkey Kong Country Returns is still a modern favorite for fans everywhere. While good however, many complained about minor issues from Retros new imagining, such as the increase in difficulty and the lack of a smaller, playable Kong for single player among other minor issues compared to the triumph that Rare worked on twenty years ago. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze brings back our Kong in true form, along with Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky. Is this new world and old faces enough to keep us after that coveted banana hoard, or was the rebirth of this franchise a one-shot victory? "

Otaku Dome: Donkey Kong Country: Tropcial Freeze Review

Added: 15.03.2014 1:15 | 59 views | 0 comments

Otaku Dome: Donkey Kong Country Returns was a great platformer for the Nintendo Wii. Although it had its share of problems, the team at Retro Studios did a great job of balancing out originality and taking inspirations from the previous Rare titles. Proving that they are highly capable of creating fun and difficult platformers. Thanks to those praises, Retro Studios returns with another Donkey Kong title in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Once again showing that they have great ideas for platforming design and are very knowledgeable of the things Rare did with their DKC games.

Nintendo's Wii U and 3DS see strong February sales over last year

Added: 13.03.2014 22:30 | 26 views | 0 comments

Full February NPD US sales data will be coming in shortly, but ahead of the official announcement, Nintendo sent a press release detailing some of their own highlights for last month.

Nintendo reports that both the Wii U and 3DS increased in sales over February of last year; the Wii U grew by 180% and the 3DS by 25%.

Nintendo attributes increased sales of the Wii U in the US to the success of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Nintendo's follow-up to their popular platformer Donkey Kong Country Returns sold 130,000 copies (including digital and physical sales), and it was the number four best-selling SKU for February.

The 3DS's continued strong performance was due in part to Bravely Default, which was the number two best-selling game SKU for February. Nintendo reports that the game "improved on the launch of Fire Emblem Awakening by more than 10 percent, selling more than 200,000 combined units in just over three weeks." And Pokemon X and Y continued to go strong with 130,000 more copies sold, bringing the game's lifetime sales total to 3.4 million in the US.

We'll have full NPD data, including a list of the top 10 selling games, and which console came out on top overall, later today.
